Sheriff Ron Ridley reports that on 05/18/2013 the Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Ness County Sheriff’s Office that they had contact with a stolen vehicle in Ness City and the vehicle and occupants had fled from them and eluded capture in Ness County.
Hodgeman County Deputies positioned themselves on US 283 Highway and at approximately 2328 hours observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle southbound on 283. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver began to flee at speeds exceeding 100 mph. After a pursuit, which ended when the driver lost control and went into a ditch on NE V Road east of 283, two individuals were taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.
Trevor J. Ramsey, age 19, of Olathe was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for Aggravated Battery out of Johnson County, Aggravated Fleeing& Eluding, Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and multiple traffic charges. He was lodged in Hodgeman County Jail.
A 16 year old juvenile female, who was listed as a runaway from Douglas County, was also arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Property and Aggravated Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer. She was lodged in Southwest Kansas Juvenile Detention.
The 2013 Kia Optima which had been reported stolen in Olathe on 05/17 received minor damage when it was driven into a ditch at the end of the pursuit.
Both individuals may face additional charges in connection to the incident in Ness City and the initial theft in Olathe.
