TV Crash Injures Three

On 06/02/2013 at approximately 1906 hours Deputy Channell had contact with a vehicle which was travelling well above 65 mph on US 283 at mile marker 92.  After making contact with the driver, Deputy Channell learned that the driver was transporting two injured children to the Hodgeman County Health Center following an ATV crash.  Based on the driver’s statements and his assessment of the children’s injuries Deputy Channell immediately requested an ambulance.

Hodgeman County EMS responded and transported two children to HCHC.  It was learned that a third child had also been injured in the crash and had been taken by private vehicle to the hospital prior to the law enforcement contact on 283.

At the hospital it was determined that an eight year old boy was critical and he was transported to Via Christi in Wichita by Life Team air ambulance.

Sheriff Ron Ridley reports that the Sheriff’s Office’s investigation found that the three boys, ages, 6, 8, and 10 had been riding a 4 wheeler on private property in the 32000 block of NW 212 Road when they crashed.  None of the boys were wearing helmets or other safety equipment at the time of the accident. Names of the involved minors are being withheld at this time.  All of the boys were Ford County residents.
