Sheriff Ron Ridley was a co-host for the May 18th seminar, "The Impact of Public Policy on Budgets" in Topeka Kansas. Sheriff Ridley, who is the President-elect for the Kansas Society of Certified Public Managers, co-hosted the event with current President, Jeff Scott, who is the Chief Compliance Officer for the Kansas Department of Revenue. The event was organized by the Kansas Society of Certified Public Managers in conjunction with the Public Management Center of the University of Kansas in Topeka.
The afternoon event was well attended by over 125 senior managers from city, county, state, and federal governments across the Kansas & Missouri. The seminar included presentations from the Kansas State Budget Director Duane Gossen, and representatives of the Kansas Association of Counties, and the Kansas League of Municipalities. A panel discussion and a question & answer session addressed the pressing budgetary issues effecting governmental entities in 2010 and beyond.
Ridley is a nationally Certified Public Manager and graduated from the CPM program offered through the Public Management Center of the University of Kansas in 2008. Scott is also a nationally Certified Public Manager, is a 2006 graduate of the program, and is a George Askew award recipient for excellence in public management. The Kansas Society of Certified Public Managers represents graduates from the CPM program and is the Kansas Chapter of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers.
