On 05/06/2010 the Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office took a 17 year old student into custody on drug possession charges following a vehicle search at the Jetmore High School. The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by the Hodgeman County Sheriff’s Office and the Southwest Kansas Drug Task Force. Sheriff Ron Ridley stated, “This particular investigation has focused on juvenile drug crimes including the use and sale of controlled substances in Hodgeman County. The participation of other members of the Task Force has allowed us to expand the reach of the investigation beyond Hodgeman County when necessary.”
The Southwest Kansas Drug Task Force is comprised of more than 25 law enforcement agencies in a 19 county area of Southwest Kansas. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on Thursday by the Dodge City Police Department Canine Unit and agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The male student, who cannot be identified due to his age, was released to a guardian at the conclusion of processing. Sheriff Ridley advised that the investigation is ongoing and additional individuals may be charged as the investigation progresses.
