"CALLING ALL CARS...CALLING ALL CARS...BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR...."
Prior to the advent of computers, mobile data terminals (MDT) and automatic license plate reader (ALPR) technology and I-phone and Android cell phone applications in law enforcement and almost instantaneous access to information; reports were all handwritten (sometimes on triplicate carbon paper forms)before dissemination and urgent or important pass-on information might only be shared between shifts and officers at roll call. Any reports of stolen cars or wanted persons were consolidated on one sheet of paper if possible and passed out to the beat officers at roll call. While officers were on patrol they could check license numbers and vehicle descriptions against what was provided to them to see if they had located a stolen vehicle on their beat. This sheet became known in "cop speak" as the HOT SHEET.
The HOT SHEET tab on the Hodgeman County Sheriff's Office website will be used to share important information with the citizens of the county on recent crimes of interest or will provide information on different types of scams that are prevelant in the area. The Hot Sheet will be updated regularly once it is fully functional and items of interest will contain a "date posted" element so you can easily tell how timely the information.
